Farm to Garment Craft Workshop #4: Dyeing
November 20 @ 9:30 am - 1:30 pmFree
Farm to Garment Craft Workshop Series
The Collingwood Branch of the Country Women’s Association of Victoria Inc will be hosting a series of workshops focused on wool craft: spinning, knitting, crochet and dyeing. The series was borne out of desire to escape the city during the pandemic which was impossible when Melbourne was in lockdown.
The Collingwood Children’s Farm is hosting the series with instruction provided by the Hand Weavers and Spinners Guild of Victoria, a local craft guild with overlapping interests with the CWA. The workshops will be free for residents of the City of Yarra age 18+.
Four workshops, free for residents of the City of Yarra (18+), will take place in the Barn:
29 May 1pm – 4pm – Spinning (learn to spin your own yarn with a spindle and view hand spinning demonstrations)
31 July 1pm – 4pm – Knitting (learn to knit a scarf – all materials provided)
2 October 1pm – 4pm – Crochet (learn to crochet – all materials provided)
20 November 1pm – 4pm – Indigo and Botanical Dyeing (learn the basics of indigo dyeing and utilise plant material gathered on the farm for botanical dyeing – one skein of yarn and one scarf provided, others available for purchase)
The Collingwood Branch of the Country Women’s Association of Victoria Inc thanks the City of Yarra for its generous funding of this project.
