Our association with the EFCF
Established in 1990, the EFCF represents over 500+ international city farms and eight national city farm bodies (Belgium, Germany, United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Portugal and Italy) across the European Union (EU) and is the largest organisation of its type in the world. Its mission is:
The mission of the European Federation of City Farms is to work with our members through city farming to actively build a future in which their community lives in harmony with nature; by enhancing their local city farm’s and communities natural environment through mainly biodiversity, air, water and soil, and ensuring that the use of renewable resources is sustainable and to minimise pollution and wasteful consumption.
In 2012 the EFCF invited the CCF to speak at its annual Conference in Lübeck, Germany. This was the first time a city farm from outside Europe had been invited to attend and present at the EFCF Conference. At this Conference the CCF applied for and was granted Associate Membership, the first city farm outside of the EU to be accepted. There have since been associate members join from the USA and Ireland. Including our Farm Manager, several CCF staff have attend the Annual Conference and visited multiple city farm locations in Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Ireland, Belgium and the UK.
